Those who work with children and youth and those who oversee them, must complete the Safeguarding God’s Children training offered online. Praesidium, our Online Safeguard Training Provider, moved to a new platform in the fall of 2021 The online safeguarding website is accessible through www.safeguardingonline.org or, more directly, at https://www.praesidiumacademy.com/.

If you already had a profile, your user name and password are the same as with the old website. When you login to the new website for the first time you will be asked to answer three security questions, much like you would for your online banking account. This will help aid in password retrieval. When you log into your account, please click on the “user profile” button and update your email.

If you are new to the site and need to create a profile, there is a self-enroll option. To begin, you must contact Canon Joshua Varner at jvarner@gaepiscopal.org to receive the enrollment code specific to your congregation. Once you have that code, follow these steps to self-enroll.

    1. Go to https://www.praesidiumacademy.com/redeem
    2. Fill in your contact information including First Name, Last Name, Email Address, and desired Password.
    3. Enter the appropriate registration code for your organization (contact Canon Varner for your organization’s code).
    4. Click Validate to confirm registration code.
    5. Click the checkbox to agree to the Terms & Conditions.
    6. Click Redeem.
    7. Write down your user login and password for future reference.
    8. Answer the Registration Questions about your status and role within the organization.
    9. Click Save & Continue.
    10. To begin taking training immediately, scroll down and click a course to start the content.

Please direct all questions regarding SafeGuard Training to the Rev. Joshua Varner at jvarner@gaepiscopal.org.

Child Protection Policy Guidelines
In March 2011, the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Georgia approved a diocesan policy on the protection of children and youth from abuse. These policies are meant to be guidelines for churches and Episcopal organizations in the Diocese of Georgia. Individual churches may adopt their own policies using the diocesan policies as a guide.
